The Friends of the Colorado National Monument is a group of people knit together by a common love  for the unique beauty and environment of this corner of Western Colorado which we call home. We are conservationists, outdoor enthusiasts, bikers, hikers, farmers, ranchers, professionals, teachers, business owners, and families living near the Colorado National Monument (CNM) who treasure its history and wish to preserve the wonderful lifestyle we enjoy both inside and outside of its boundaries. We exist to address questions raised by the possibility that our small national monument could be changed to that of “Rim Rock Canyons National Park.” Our concerns arise from the realities presented by such a change, and our informational pieces are based on data and facts obtained through research. The Friends of the Colorado National Monument (FCNM) believe that preservation of the environment must be balanced with reasonable levels human activity. Doing so requires an honest assessment of the qualities of the CNM; its size, its roadways, its delicate natural features and wildlife, as well as the quality of the lives and livelihoods of its human neighbors. We are among those blessed to have the Colorado National Monument as an everyday reminder that this little corner of Mesa County is a glorious place to call home.
